A few useful answers.
Everything you need to know before you open a document.
Is PDFEditor free to use?
Yes. Every tool is free, with no account, no watermark on the export and no paid tier holding back a feature you need. There is no upsell at the download step.
Can I edit existing text in a PDF?
Yes. Click any text that is stored as text in the document, edit it inline, and the editor keeps the original font, size, colour and baseline. Scanned pages have no text layer to click, so those need a text box or an annotation instead.
What happens to my file?
Your PDF is sent to the editor’s server to be processed, held in a temporary session and removed when that session expires. The original upload is never modified, every edit produces a new file, and nothing is shared with anyone else.
Are PDF redactions permanent?
Yes. The Redact PDF tool applies a real PDF redaction that removes the underlying content from the exported file, rather than drawing a black box over it. Whiteout is a separate tool for presentation edits where the content does not need to be destroyed.
Can I open a password-protected PDF?
Yes. Enter the password once when prompted. It is used to open the document for that session and is not stored.
Do I need to install anything?
No. PDFEditor runs in the browser, on any modern desktop or mobile browser, with no extension, plugin or desktop application to install.
